I love the sexiness we get to exude. But the best thing about being a woman is the power we have over men.

I'm a late bloomer, my looks came pretty late and success happened at the age of 30. But I'm pleased about things not coming to me immediately because it makes you appreciate it when you finally get it.

I do like British guys. If I had to pick one it would be Ewan McGregor. I met him once and he was gorgeous even if he is a little short. He has the most amazing charisma. ( Ewan is of course Scottish )

I don't agree with all the boundaries we put on everything. Women are forever discounting men for all sorts of silly reasons – too old, too young, wrong haircut. Give the guy a chance and he may surprise you. I've definitely been pleasantly surprised by my choices and I've always had plenty of choice.

I'm like Blanche on The Golden Girls. I have a good head on my shoulders but, once in a while, a man will come and knock the sense out of me.

I grew up as an ugly duckling. They used to call me prieta fea, because I was the only one of my family's four girls with dark hair, dark eyes, and dark skin. Growing up I was the ugly one, because I was the odd one.

View some Eva Longoria pictures below. src="http://www.darkrealmfox.com/film_reviews/wp-content/images/front_site_pics/burlesque_1.jpg?9d7bd4" vspace="4" width="300" />Christina Aguilera makes her film acting debut in Burlesque, she plays a girl called Ali Rose who travels to Los Angeles and finds works as a waitress at the Burlesque Lounge, the club is in financial trouble and it's owner Tess ( Cher ) is struggling to keep the place afloat, as it turns out Ali has a fantastic voice and has ambitions to perform at the club, she also has fantastic legs which help draw large crowds to the club, the film also stars Kristen Bell, Cam Gigandet, Alan Cumming and Stanley Tucci and if nothing else it should have a quality soundtrack.

The aforementioned Kristen Bell will play Aguilera's rival at the club and she does not like the new girl in town one little bit, sparks fly, catfights ensue and hair extensions are everywhere with Cher having to keep the girls in line, perhaps by the end of the film these girls will learn to love and respect each other!

Burlesque opens in December and since there hasn't been any other musicals released this year i will promptly label it without a shadow of a doubt the best and most entertaining musical of 2010.

src="http://www.darkrealmfox.com/film_reviews/wp-content/images/front_site_pics/poe_pagepic1.jpg?9d7bd4" vspace="4" width="230" />The Raven is classic poem by Edgar Allen Poe, a writer whose work has been made into many feature films such as The Black Cat, The Masque Of The Red Death, The Fall Of The House Of Usher and The Pit And The Pendulum, indeed many of those were made into atmospheric films in the 1960's by Roger Corman, Vincent Price and Jack Nicholson played in them.

I am getting pretty excited about a new film called The Raven which will be based on Edgar Allen Poe and his pursuit of a serial killer who murders people in a similiar fashion to the writer's stories, this does not sound like your usual stuffy period film but hopefully an entertaining and atmospheric horror story, of course there is much that could go wrong with the production but if done right i feel this could be a great movie.

They originally wanted Johnny Depp to play the part of Edgar Allen Poe but he pulled out and in his place we have John Cusack, now i like Mr Cusack who always picks his roles carefully and has a tendency to pick roles which are interesting and varied, i think he will play the role superbly.

James McTeigue is directing the film, he has previously directed V For Vendetta, The Invasion and Ninja Assassin, perhaps not an obvious choice for a film like this but i do feel he will bring some energy and excitement to the film. I liked both V For Vendetta and The Invasion.

The Raven is set during the last five days of Poe's life and see's him teaming up with a detective to hunt down the serial killer who has fiendishly kidnapped the writer's fiancee, well he needs some motivation to get involved in the case and what better way than to have the love of his life stolen from him, The Raven is one of Poe's best works and a good title for the movie.

I am pleased Ewan McGregor is no longer attached to the project, now i am Scottish just like Ewan but i cannot help but think that Ewan has turned into a big time pompous ass and these days is a very pretentious individual, anyways most Ewan McGregor films tend to have the kiss of box office death about them.

The film is due to start shooting in Budapest and Serbia at the end of October and should be in cinema's sometime in 2011. Read Edgar Allen Poe's excellent The Raven below.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more.'

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; – vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow – sorrow for the lost Lenore -
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore -
Nameless here for evermore.

And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me – filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
`'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door -
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; -
This it is, and nothing more,'

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
`Sir,' said I, `or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you' – here I opened wide the door; -
Darkness there, and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, `Lenore!'
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, `Lenore!'
Merely this and nothing more.

Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
`Surely,' said I, `surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore -
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore; -
'Tis the wind and nothing more!'

Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore.
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door -
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door -
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
`Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,' I said, `art sure no craven.
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore -
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning – little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door -
Bird or beast above the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as `Nevermore.'

But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered – not a feather then he fluttered -
Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before -
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'
Then the bird said, `Nevermore.'

Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
`Doubtless,' said I, `what it utters is its only stock and store,
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore -
Till the dirges of his hope that melancholy burden bore
Of "Never-nevermore."'

But the raven still beguiling all my sad soul into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird and bust and door;
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore -
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking `Nevermore.'

This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom's core;
This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining
On the cushion's velvet lining that the lamp-light gloated o'er,
But whose velvet violet lining with the lamp-light gloating o'er,
She shall press, ah, nevermore!

Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
`Wretch,' I cried, `thy God hath lent thee – by these angels he has sent thee
Respite – respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore!
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost Lenore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! – prophet still, if bird or devil! -
Whether tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted -
On this home by horror haunted – tell me truly, I implore -
Is there – is there balm in Gilead? – tell me – tell me, I implore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! – prophet still, if bird or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us – by that God we both adore -
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels named Lenore -
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden, whom the angels named Lenore?'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!' I shrieked upstarting -
`Get thee back into the tempest and the Night's Plutonian shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken! – quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted – nevermore!

Tom Cruise Returns In Mission Impossible 4

Movie News

ethan hunt mission impossible

mission impossible 4 movie news

mission impossible iv film news

movie news

paramount makes mission impossible 4

scientology mission impossible

tom cruise in mission impossible 4

Paramount are thought to be seeking to reboot the franchise and have cast Jeremy Renner as a younger agent and part of Hunt's ( Cruise's) team, the thinking is that Paramount see Renner as an ideal future replacement for Cruise.

A few years back there was a very public fallout between Tom Cruise and the owner of Paramount Pictures, Sumner Redstone, Redstone was concerned that Mr Cruise's private life was damaging the box office takings and his appeal to audiences.

The actor was seen on national television jumping up and down on a sofa during an interview with Oprah Winfrey and he also has an obsession with the bizarre cult of Scientology, the box office figures for Mission Impossible 3 were poorer than expected in North America and his recent film Knight & Day managed a miserable worldwide gross of just over $225m dollars, despite reservations the studio have struck a deal for Cruise to return as Ethan Hunt and Mission Impossible 4 is finally back on track to be made.

Paramount are thought to be seeking to reboot the franchise and have cast Jeremy Renner as a younger agent who is part of Hunt's ( Cruise's) team, the thinking is that Paramount see Renner as an ideal future replacement for Cruise, other cast members are Paula Patton who will play the female lead, it's also likely that Ving Rhames will return as Luther, rumoured to be returning cast members but not set in stone just yet is Maggie Q as Zhen, Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Declan and Simon Pegg as Benji.

The director of Mission Impossible 4 is Brad Bird who up to this point has mainly been involved in animation, he directed The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

My own feeling is that Mr Cruise needs to take more chances with his career, he certainly needs to distance himself from Scientology which incidentally was conceived by L. Ron Hubbard who was a sci-fi writer, go figure that his "religion" should have so many science fiction elements in it, do people like Tom Cruise have so much lacking in their lives that they need to fall back on something so obviously made up but also something so potentially dangerous as scientology!

I like the Mission Impossible films and i have a feeling this one will be exciting, action packed and full of suspense, the problem for Paramount is that Cruise brings with him a lot of baggage due to the scientology connections, by all accounts he is a good guy and spends time at film premieres walking among the crowds signing autographs and letting fans take snaps, but the other side of the coin is that he is also considered to be a control freak and when you combine that with the lunacy of scientology you end up with a person who shows one face in public but another in private, maybe he should just loosen up and take more chances before he gets too old for the parts, he is a good actor and i hope he does more unexpected roles such as the one in Tropic Thunder, i like when actors take chances.

Mission Impossible IV may have a name change before it's release date, it opens December 2011.

Shark Night 3D Casting News

Movie News

movie news

shark devours 90210 cast member

shark night

shark night 3d

shark night casting news

shark night movie news

shark night plotline

In Shark Night a weekend away turns into a horror show as a freshwater shark goes on a cold date with Sara Paxton, they watch Finding Nemo and then it's onto the main course, that'll be raw paxton with some water!

3D is the in thing with movies right now and you can thank the huge success of Avatar for that, coming to a cinema near you sometime in 2011 is Shark Night, the plot centres around a weekend away at a lake house with seven guests that think it's going to be fun, fun, fun but they don't reckon on fresh water sharks who are hungry as hell and just love a little leg not to mention some head while enjoying the midday sun.

Casting news has Sara Paxton, Katharine McPhee and Dustin Milligan coming onboard for what is sure to be a blood frenzied shoot, others in the cast are Crystal Lowe, recently seen in four episodes of Smallville and Joel Moore who was in Avatar.

Sara Paxton was in the remake of The Last House On The Left so swimming with sharks will be a much more relaxing and altogether easier shoot for her, Dustin Milligan appeared in 90210, he'll have to be at the top of his game since the sharks are a step up in the acting department. Maybe they can lure a few other 90210 cast to the shoot and feed the sharks!

Katharine McPhee was an American Idol finalist, on that show Simon Cowell may have come across like a shark sometimes but he's really a pussycat, no seriously he is and i know for a fact he likes nothing better than to chase a few birds after the show finishes, i expect Katharine will find sharks a lot easier to work with than Ryan Seacrest.

Shooting on the movie starts soon in Louisiana and the studio is looking for extra's to play fishbait, you must have no family or committments, be willing to work for 5 cents an hour and sign a waiver form stating you are happy to be eaten by sharks, ok i made all that up!

Flying Tiger Heroes

Movie News

fighter airplane movies

flying tiger heroes

flying tiger heroes film news

flying tigers

john woos flying tiger heroes

movie news

world war two movies

In 1942 John Wayne made a movie called Flying Tigers about the exploits of the 1st American Volunteer Group who helped China fight the Japanese, now John Woo is directing a remake called Flying Tiger Heroes.

In 1942 John Wayne made a movie called Flying Tigers about the exploits of the 1st American Volunteer Group who helped China fight the Japanese, the group was set up two years before America entered the war because of Japan attacking Pearl Harbor. The film was based on the real life of Claire Lee Chennault a retired U.S. army airforce officer although in the movie the character Wayne played was changed to Captain Jim Gordon, this was done for obvious security reasons since the war was still on at the time the movie was made and released thus the real names could not be used. Its a good film and one of John Wayne's best and it showed he could do movies other than westerns.

Chennault had worked in China from 1937 before World War 2 began and he taught his pilots dive and zoom techniques to counter the Japanese planes which were more maneuverable, they were also outnumbered in many of their encounters thus such tactics were needed.

John Woo is currently organizing finance to make his version of the film which may star Liam Neeson in the Chennault role, Woo was born in China in 1946 and he started his film career in the late sixties working on Shaw Brothers productions, he frequently writes the screenplays for his movies and my own personal favourite Woo movies are The Killer and Hard Boiled. He has also made Hollywood productions such as Hard Target, Face/Off and Mission Impossible 2.

Woo said in an interview that Chennault really did a great job for China, he went on to say “He really loved China. Older Chinese people really remember him, respect him and love him. No matter what kind of party was in power, they all liked him. Chennault worked with them all so well.”

Mr Woo is obviously passionate about making this film and it should hit cinemas late 2011.

Jason Statham Is The Mechanic

Movie News

film remakes the mechanic

jason statham in the mechanic

movie news

movie remake news

movie remakes the mechanic

the mechanic

The film remake of The Mechanic see's Jason Statham taking on the Bronson role and Ben Foster playing McKenna, it appears to be following the plot of the original closely and the director is Simon West who has previously directed Con Air.

Movie remakes are in fashion and hardly a week goes by without yet another being announced, now it's the turn of the 1972 thriller The Mechanic to get the remake treatment.

In the original version of The Mechanic, Charles Bronson played aging hitman Arthur Bishop who plans to retire but first he trains young protege Steve McKenna ( Jan Michael Vincent ) to take over his job, the problem is that Bishop killed McKenna's father, Bishop takes McKenna on a hit that doesn't go smoothly and the organization Bishop works for wants him dead, they assign Steve to do the hit, thats the basics of The Mechanic and the ending is superb. Hopefully they will keep the ending for this remake.

The film remake of The Mechanic see's action star Jason Statham taking on the Bronson role and Ben Foster playing McKenna, it appears to be following the plot of the original closely and the director is Simon West who has previously directed the first Tomb Raider movie and Con Air so if nothing else the action scenes should be exciting and extremely well choreographed.

Millennium Films who recently financed The Expendables is behind this new version and Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff who produced the original are also part of the producing team on the remake. CBS films has acquired the movie distribution rights for North America.

Producer Irvin Winkler who has been in the movie business 40 years said “The original was a big success, especially overseas where it has had a long life, MGM had the rights but nobody really saw it as the character study that we did, until Avi Lerner came in and financed it. A lot of independent companies were interested after we held a test screening, but I worked with CBS’s Amy Baer while she was at Columbia, and we trust each other. CBS needed a film, they held a screening on their own dime that did even better than the first time, and there is a lot of enthusiasm.”

The Mechanic is scheduled to be released in America on the 15th of December 2010 and hopefully they will stay faithful to the original version while adding some new touches to the film.

Judge Dredd Returns

Movie News

dark judges

judge dredd

judge dredd 2000ad

judge dredd 3d

judge dredd at darkrealmfox

judge dredd lawman

judge dredd movie news

judge dredd returns

karl urban is judge dredd

lena heady in judge dredd

movie news

Karl Urban has signed on to play Judge Dredd and the script has been written by Alex Garland. I just hope they have a lot of money to do this film right and are ambitious enough to go the extra mile and not cut corners. Blah, thats such a lame story, sure it might be entertaining but it just isn't what fans of the comics really want, we want the dark judges vs Dredd and not Judge Dredd meets Diehard.

In another bit of bad news, Pete Travis is directing, he was responsible for the dull and boring Vantage Point, although i'm disappointed about that script i just hope they have a lot of money to do this film right and are ambitious enough to go the extra mile and not cut corners.

The film is being made in 3D, i'm not really sure thats necessary but its the in thing and i prefer they actually shoot 3D than make it 2D and clumsily convert the movie to 3D.

Producer Andrew McDonald says ""The main thing about Dredd is that it’s a fantastic comic that was completely messed up 20 years ago," said Macdonald. "Our idea is to make a very hard, R-rated, gritty, realistic movie of Dredd in Megacity, so we’ve got to get the tone right. He’s not going to take off his helmet. His bike is going to feel real. He’s going to hit people and it’s going to feel real." He went on to say "We’ll be shooting in Johannesburg and we’re shooting with the people who did District 9 – and if we get it right, Alex has a couple of ideas for other stories as well. It’s not based on any one comic, and John Wagner is involved in every decision."

Lena Heady will play the main female villian of Ma-Ma in the movie, she's a good actress and should bring energy to the role.

Dredd is due to hit cinemas sometime in 2012.

David Fincher And The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Movie News

daniel craig in the girl with the dragon tattoo

david fincher movies

Män som hatar kvinnor

movie news

movie remakes the girl with the dragon tattoo

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is a novel by the late author Stieg Larsson, it forms part of his Millennium trilogy, the other two entries are The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, all three were made into Swedish films, Hollywood is now remaking the first movie.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is a novel by the late author Stieg Larsson, it forms part of his Millennium trilogy, the other two entries are The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, all three were made into Swedish films, Hollywood is now remaking the first movie and should that gain a large enough audience and do well at the box office there is an option to make the sequels. David Fincher will be the director of the remake.

The Swedish title of the film is Män som hatar kvinnor which translates as Men Who Hate Women, the plotline involves a journalist called Mikael Blomkvist who publishes a magazine called Millennium, an article on a billionaire industrialist lands him in court on a libel charge, he loses the case and steps down as head of the magazine and is also sentenced to 3 months in jail, while mulling over the time he is going to serve Blomkvist is approached by Henrik Vanger the CEO of Vanger Enterprises who offers him an assignment.

Unbeknown to Blomkvist, Vanger had hired a private investigator to look into Blomkvist's entire history, the investigation was carried out by Lisbeth Salander, the title character of the book and movie. Vanger promises Blomkvist money and evidence that will prove the industrialist is really crooked, Blomkvist agrees to spend a year writing Vangers family history but he is really investigating the disappearance of Vangers great neice who vanished 40 years earlier, as Blomkvist digs deep he finds new evidence and murder is most definately in the air.

Daniel Craig has been signed to play Mikael Blomkvist with an option to return should adaptations of the other two books in the series get made, this will all depend on how well this film does at the box office. At the moment Mr Craig is working on Cowboys & Aliens.

MGM finanical problems and the fact the studio has not yet been sold means the Bond movie franchise is currently in limbo, it's expected that the Bond producers may try and move house to another studio should the situation not resolve itself soon, the problem is still Daniel Craig finding time in his busy schedule to fit another 007 movie in, no doubt he will manage it and it also gives the Bond scriptwriters time to fine tune the script they have. Noomi Rapace stars in the Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, worth checking out and available to view now on blu ray.

As for the english language remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Steven Zaillian has written the screenplay, i personally am not much of a fan of his previous work which has included the very average Hannibal and the overrated Gangs Of New York, i did like his screenplay for The Interpreter and Schindler's List but Clear and Present Danger dragged a little and as far as Jack Ryan stories go is not a patch on the excellent The Hunt For Red October, having said all that it is an adaptation of a novel thus it's hardly his fault as he is just adapting the novel, same thing with Hannibal and how it turned out, the novel by all accounts is worse than the film.

The key to how The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo turns out will be in the casting of the main characters, Rooney Mara has been cast in the role of Lisbeth Salander, she was Nancy in the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street.

You can expect to see the film hit cinemas in December 2011, thats a long wait but movies do take time to make and this film could end up being very special, maybe even a remake that is better than the original, time will tell.

RoboCop Remake – An MGM Production Casualty

Movie News

mgm axes robocop remake

mgm production casualties robocop

movie news

robocop production axed

robocop remake

robocop remake axed

robocop remake hell

The continuing financial woes at MGM have seen a number of film productions postponed or axed while a buyer is sought for the troubled studio and now the latest MGM production casualty is the remake of RoboCop.

The money issues at MGM have seen a number of film productions postponed or axed and that includes the next James Bond movie and The Hobbit. A buyer is being sought for the troubled studio and now the latest MGM production casualty is the remake of RoboCop.

The original 1987 film version of RoboCop was directed by Paul Verhoeven and is set in a future Detriot where crime is out of control and the cops are finding it increasingly difficult to do their job.

A company called Omni Consumer Products ( OCP ) who own the Detriot police department have designed a crime fighting robot called ED 209 to help the police only it has some software bugs that need ironing out as in it has a habit of shooting innocent people dead, OCP decide ED 209 is just a little too dangerous and instead they push ahead with the RoboCop program.

When Officer Alex Murphy ( Peter Weller ) is fatally shot ( an understatement ) while on patrol he is used in the RoboCop program and his memories erased, RoboCop is a success in cleaning up crime but the memories of his past life are coming back and he is more than just a machine.

Darren Aronofsky was going to direct the film remake but has now pulled out and with the studio still looking for a buyer there is no chance that a new director will be brought on board to make the movie. Aronofsky directed such gems as Requiem For A Dream, The Fountain and The Wrester and is a very good director who could have made a good, gritty RoboCop remake.

The RoboCop trilogy is being prepped for a blu ray release later in the year and that should satisfy fans of the film series although the third one was somewhat poor and the PG-13 certificate meant the violence was toned down. ( big mistake )

It's also likely that at some stage the RoboCop remake will happen, it just won't be anytime soon, perhaps when MGM find a buyer it may get the go ahead again albeit with a different director.
