The Sorcerers Apprentice Film Trailer

This is a new film loosely based on the Mickey Mouse Sorcerer's Apprentice segment of Fantasia.

Nicolas Cage rejoins with National Treasure director Jon Turteltaub for this action, comedy adventure film.

Cage plays a master sorcerer who protects New York City from an evil wizard played by Alfred Molina.

He recruits an apprentice to help him and together they take on Molina's wizard who is hell bent on destruction and wrong doing.

As well as Nicolas Cage and Alfred Molina the cast includes Monica Bellucci and Jay Baruchel.

There was an accident last year while filming a stunt sequence, the sequence was a car chase scene and a couple of bystanders watching the action unfold suffered minor injuries, apparently one of the cars suddenly drove into a pizza house although it sounds to me like they didn't feed their stunt crew enough during the shoot and the guy was just hungry.

The film hits cinemas this summer and could be a fun entertaining movie.

The Tourist

Charlize Theron was cast for the lead female role in The Tourist but passed and so in stepped Angeina Jolie who is currently filming the movie in Venice.

It's about a tourist used by an Interpol agent to try and find a criminal. Miss Jolie will play the interpol agent with Johnny Depp playing the tourist.

The film is being directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck which is difficult to type but even more of a mouthful to say. Donnersmarck previously directed Dobermann and The Lives Of others.

Julian Fellowes, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, Jerome Salle and Christopher McQuarrie wrote the screenplay with William Wheeler working on revisions. Fellowes previously wrote Gosford Park and Vanity Fair while McQuarrie wrote Valkyrie and The Usual Suspects and also directed The Way Of The Gun.

Cinematography is by John Seale who has worked on many films including Witness, Gorilla's In The Mist, Rain Man, Dead Poets Society, The Perfect Storm and Cold Mountain and he also won an Oscar for The English Patient so i expect a beautiful looking movie if nothing else.

Johnny Depp is a busy guy as he is setting sail again as Jack Sparrow in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Angelina Jolie will be seen this year in the spy thriller Salt.

The Tourist is one to watch out for and i think it should be pretty good with such talent involved and it's coming to a cinema near you this Xmas.

Fantasia/Fantasia 2000

I have mixed the UK and American releases together.

I love old classic black and white horror movies so i am hoping the Wolfman with it's excellent cast turns out to be a very good movie. The release kept being put back and much editing has been done to the film so it's possible it may turn out to be more of a turkey than a wolf.

I look forward to seeing Sandra Bullock return to fine acting form in The Blind Side and i do not mind American Football if the story is strong and this film has strong word of mouth and was a surprise sleeper hit in America.

I mention The Hole since it is directed by none other than Joe Dante who has been quiet for a long time and he directed one of my favourite werewolf horror movies from the eighties, that movie was The Howling. Dante is of course also responsible for Gremlins and The Burbs.

Clint Eastwood has been on great form for a number of years now and Invictus looks interesting especially if they can avoid going too far into sentimental sugary territory.

The plot of Legion reminds me of The Prophecy which is a movie i enjoyed from many years back. I have not seen the trailer though and only read the plot line so it's probably nothing like that film. I think Highlanders original concept was later revised and made into The Prophecy albeit on a much lower budget and a drastically changed script.

To Live and Die in L.A. was delayed from a few years back but is finally being released in America on Blu Ray in February. This is a fine film with a catchy music score and is grittier than most of the films made in the eighties, the car chase scene is still entertaining today and thank god it's real with no CGI to be seen anywhere.

Hard Rain stars Christian Slater and Morgan Freeman and our very own Minnie Driver. I always liked this movie and i hope the transfer is up to scratch. Cinematographer Mikael Saloman directed this movie and it should look excellent on Blu Ray. ( if they don't use an old master )

I look forward to picking up some more classic Disney with the original Fantasia and it's sequel Fantasia 2000 hitting Blu Ray in early March. I imagine Fantasia will still be censored due to political correctness but the music score should sound better than ever.

I like Fantasia 2000 a lot and think many of the sequences work very well. My favourite Disney film Beauty and the Beast hits Blu Ray in October of this year. I'm hoping my second favourite The Lion King is released in 2011

Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 did not get a March 2010 release, latest news is Dec 2010 in the UK.

Will Smith As James Bond ?

Actor Will Smith has expressed an interest in becoming the next James Bond after Daniel Craig retires from the role.

Fellow actor Jamie Foxx and rap and music producer P Diddy have also expressed an interest in the role.

Smith acknowledges he faces stiff competition but responds with the fact that none of the actors expressing an interest have a proven box office track record and that only his name attached to any future movie can guarantee instant box office success.

There is one stumbling block for Smith and that is his age.

Daniel Craig is expected to make at least two more Bond movies with the next one being released in 2012 and the one after that probably being released in 2014 so it will be at least 2016 before filming would begin on a movie featuring a new Bond. That would make Smith 48 years old and probably too old for the part of the character.
