The transfer to Blu Ray is not as impressive as it could be and i feel this is due to Fox using an old outdated master. I feel all the issues on this disc are on the high definition master.

Peter Jackson’s 2005 remake of King Kong can look better on Blu Ray as this edition has had some DNR applied and the fine grain structure and image quality is not as good as it could be. There is an HD-DVD edition of the movie which looks better than this one.

I have been an X Files fan from series one onwards and have seen every single episode many times over and i also enjoyed the first movie a lot but i was hesistant about this film.

I do not feel the PG-13 hindered this movie and i felt the action content was superb and indeed i went into this fearing the worst but came out pleasantly surprised as i enjoyed the film a lot.

I would describe this film as a mixture of Escape From New York meets Mad Max 2 with a touch of Gladiator thrown in for good measure.

This movie was shot in the same way as Sin City but unlike that movie this one unfortunately plays like a bad comedy, and by that i meant it just isn’t funny and nor is it exciting enough to pass itself off as an action movie or a thriller.

The film reminded me of the television show Heroes and the director was fond of closeups which showed some good detail on this Blu Ray disc.

The film’s natural grain structure has been wiped clean by overuse of DNR and i believe scratch removal tools have also been used on this transfer. You will often see smearing motion trails and edge enhancement is visible in a number of scenes.

I hope the final two installments The Deathly Hallows which are going to be released in 3D improve upon this film. One bit of good news is composer John Williams may return for the final two films and his musical touch has been missed

The image produced using this camera system on Zodiac is very detailed and has absolutely no visible grain even in dimly lit night scenes.
