James Cameron has confirmed his plans to make at least one sequel to Avatar and probably two sequels, it would seem that Battle Angel may be delayed as it's likely Cameron will film the Avatar sequels first. That's not absolutely certain yet and he could still decide to go ahead with Battle Angel since so much planning has already gone into it and it's likely a good script has yet to be written for an Avatar sequel.
As i said in my blu ray review of Avatar here, i feel this is a fantasic film with impressive visuals, i love the sci-fi genre which is why i really got into this film and enjoyed it so much.
You can expect an extended edition of Avatar later this year and possibly an Avatar 3D blu ray release.
James Cameron started in film by working on the miniatures and artwork on movies like Battle Beyond The Stars, Android and Escape From New York, he also had a hand in the screenplay for Rambo 2.
The fact Cameron started out in effects and artwork has helped his development as a film director with an eye for detail, he is not the sort of director who says thats good enough and moves on, he strives for excellence and always goes the extra mile, many modern day directors start out in the music world making pop videos and think editing each scene for three second shots is how you make a movie, Cameron could show them a thing or two on how to make a real film.
