The new Freddy Krueger movie opens soon, this remake of the 1985 horror classic A Nightmare On Elm Street remains true in tone to the original although some may object to the way this new version has Mr Kruegers character liking children a little too much and that could put some people off the film. In the original he only killed children.
The original film had many sequels which turned the Freddy character into a caricature who would make wisecracks before dispatching his victims. I hope this version keeps the joke elements to a minimum and plays up the horror aspects more and it certainly seems to be doing just that.
Fans may not like the fact Robert Englund has been replaced as Freddy Krueger but this may be a sign the makers are moving away from the silliness of the later Elm Street entries and moving into more serious territory.
The makeup on this new Freddy Krueger looks very good and they have kept the trademark hat and jumper. The film opens soon and if its a hit you can expect many sequels.
