Blu Ray Screencaps of Black Sheep.
This is a fun tongue in cheek horror movie from New Zealand about genetically modified experiments which result in killer sheep roaming the countryside,
There is plenty of gore but i didn't find the movie that funny the film still entertained me. In writing this post i'm reminded about 30 Days Of Night since i watched both films one after the other and 30 Days Of Night was also shot in New Zealand and the effects work for both films was handled by Weta Workshops.
I felt the image quality was good but i suspect minor filtering has been applied to the image since on closer inspection there is a faint line around all four sides of the image, most people will not even notice this so its probably not an issue for the majority of viewers. I noticed compression issues when viewing on my computer using a higher brightness than normal mode but while viewing on a calibrated projector at a screen size of 104 inches i did not notice the same issues and therefore i feel these issues will only be noticeable if your brightness control is set too high. They could have just put the film on a BD-50 disc and upped the bitrate and avoided the compression issue altogether but it seems with this disc cheapness rules the day.
Black Sheep uses 10.8GB for the main feature, it runs at exactly 24hz instead of 23.976hz although i detected no issues because of this, the disc is region free.
Another annoyance is the film has a Dolby Digital sound mix but the disc only contains a 640kbp/s Dolby Digital 5.1 track. They should have provided a lossless track. Audio is still ok but the sound mix is just average, you get reasonable bass, speech is clear and some nice surround effects but on the whole i considered this an average soundtrack which did not really take advantage of the possibilities provided by the film.
