These are full HD screencaps from Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince on the Blu Ray format.
I like the Harry Potter films but feel they have progressively declined with each new installment. In my opinion the first three movies are better than the three which followed.
I hope the final two installments The Deathly Hallows which are going to be released in 3D improve upon this film. One bit of good news is composer John Williams may return for the final two films and his musical touch has been missed.
I enjoyed this film as i have every installment of the franchise but it just feels like there is something missing. I have felt that way about all the movies from the fourth one on to this one.
Guillermo Del Toro was asked to direct this film but turned it down as he wanted to work on Hellboy II and it's a shame as i feel Del Toro could have added so much to the Harry Potter films especially with his fantastic eye for visuals and unique imagination.
I felt the music score for this film could have been a lot better and the sound mix just wasn't aggressive enough but this is typical for a Harry Potter film where i feel they do just enough to please people but never go the extra mile to make the film truly spectacular.
It's interesting that a scene that wasn't in the book where the Death Eaters attack The Burrow is actually the most entertaining part of the movie.
I have never seen any of the other Harry Potter films in HD so can only comment on this one and i felt this was a good transfer. No issues stuck out and it seems to replicate the cinema look.
There is a lot of darkly lit scenes and these come across well on Blu Ray and i suspect Warner have given us the best possible encode. I also think that all of these movies will be released in special extended editions in a few years time.
The sound mix only ever came alive in a few scenes and it just felt like it was lacking something. I thought the music score was not that good and a film series which earns Warner billions should have a much better and more memorable music score.
Perhaps i am being too harsh as it does sound better than a number of films and the darker nature of these later films come across well with this particular style of cinematography, i have added this film to the reference list which you can view by clicking here.
