HD screencaps of Wanted on the Blu Ray format.
Wanted stars James McAvoy as Wesley Gibson, he works in an office and leads a boring life and his girlfriend is cheating on him with his best friend, his life though is about to change as Wesley possesses unique skills that allow him to curve bullets around objects and his reflexes are superhuman which makes him the perfect hitman.
Fox (Angelina Jolie) saves Wesley in the supermarket from an unknown assailant and introduces him to the Fraternity, a secret organization run by Sloan. ( Morgan Freeman ) The Fraternity choose their hits by using a mystical loom that identifies through weaving errors in the fabric those who will cause mankind harm.
It sounds silly but it's all good fun and i the film has some fabulous action sequences, it may not be to all tastes as the basic premise is far fetched but then it is based on a comic book.
I really enjoyed this movie and welcomed a proper return to R rated Hollywood action movies. Far too many movies get watered down for a PG-13 certifcate because it is seen as more commercially viable but some films just are not suited to such a certificate and Wanted falls into that category of films which benefit from the more adult R certificate.
In the UK this is an 18 certificate which means it is a harder R certificate since soft R rated films usually get the 15 certificate in the UK and some R rated films were given 12A over here such as Terminator 3 or Last Of The Mohicans. Its good to get a full blooded action film for a change.
The sound quality on this disc is excellent and i found the mix to be dynamic and open with an enjoyable music score, the menu system on the disc was pretty good too and featured some music from the film. Its an all round good package and slickly produced.
This film was shot in the Super 35 format and was shot using Kodak fine grain film stock. Some parts of the movie also used the Red One 4k Camera system.
The image quality is very good with lots of fine detail and i saw nothing which bothered me with the transfer, i have added it to the reference list here.
If you watch the movie with the brightness on your display turned up excessively high you will notice in some darker lit fast moving scenes a few compression issues.
Under normal viewing conditions these compression issues did not appear visible to me thus a well calibrated display should ensure no annoyances in your viewing of this film.
A sequel to Wanted is in the planning stages yet has still to be given the go ahead, it appears Angelina Jolie has declined to reprise her role of Fox but James McAvoy will return.
