Valkyrie is based on a true story about an assassination attempt on Hitler.
The film is set in 1944 and stars Tom Cruise as Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg.
This was the 15th attempt on Hitler's life and although the movie changes a few things for dramatic purposes it does keep the main assassination scene and what follows afterwards pretty much how it was supposed to have happened.
I found the film rivetting and Cruise's performance was very good. The supporting cast all did a fine job and Bryan Singers direction was good.
The film was shot in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio using Fuji and Kodak fine grain film stock.
Some scenes have a light grain texture while others have almost no visible grain and this was clearly intentional and they chose this for artistic purposes.
The image quality was film like and i considered it excellent. Sound quality was equally impressive with nice split surround sound, clear speech and when called for some very deep and room shaking bass. I consider this reference quality for both image and sound.
I saw no compression problems with the transfer which stood out under normal viewing conditions and no annoying edge enhancement or other processing issues.
