Death Race is a updated remake of Death Race 2000 which starred David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone, Carradine provides the voice for Frankenstein at the beginning of the film.
This is not a good movie and the script was poor and i would say my enjoyment was also hindered by the music score which isn't my cup of tea.
The film features a lot of shaky cam and fast editing during the racing sequences and i didn't much care for that in this film.
This was a very good transfer with a tremendous amount of detail in many shots. Film grain is visible during low level lighting scenes and intact and gives the film a nice gritty look.
Early on i thought the water around the prison as seen from a camera shot from the sky looked a little off and i'm not sure if that's an encoding issue or bad CGI, probably the latter.
Look at screenshot 8 and you will see fantastic detail in Joan Allen's jacket that she is wearing.
It's possible that there is very minor sharpening in some scenes. Check out frame 2 as an example and Jason holding the baton.
More likely it's because of the lighting of the scene and the camera lens but whatever the case may be it was not distracting to me.
The film's sound mix is lively with lots of discrete surround activity but the bass is not as deep as i usually like and i disliked the music score.
