Matthew McConaughey was born in November 1969.
Matthew's first film role was in the 1993 coming of age drama Dazed and Confused.
His next role was opposite Renee Zellweger in the universally praised multi Oscar nominated The Return Of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Yah i'm kidding.
His breakthrough year was 1996 when he was in two critically acclaimed films. Lone Star and A Time To Kill.
In 1997 Matthew made Contact with Jodie Foster and Steven Spielbergs fabulous Amistad.
My own personal favorite is Reign Of Fire but then i'm a sucker for any movie featuring fire breathing dragons.
McConaughey invested time and money into the feature film Sahara which bombed at the box office.
He hoped the film would be the start of a successful franchise but audiences stayed away.
Films like Failure To Launch, Fool's Gold and Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past were not huge box office hits but did open well and garner reasonably positive reviews.
Upcoming films include Southbound about a border patrol officer who finds himself caught up in a war between a Mexican crime family and the U.S. immigration police and Hammer Down which is about a former NASCAR driver who becomes the wheelman of a major heist.
Hammer Down interests me and sounds like it could be a fun movie although much will depend on the script and how they film and edit it.
He named his son Levi and his brother who likes to be called Rooster named his son Miller Lyte.
Matthew was arrested in 1999 for possession of marijuana and was found naked playing the bongo drums. His full name is Matthew David McConaughey.
He was first choice for the role of Jack in Titanic but turned it down to make Spielberg's Amistad.
